The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a health professional to join our Regional Education team. As Regional Cancer Prevention Coordinator you will initiate and promote cancer prevention and early detection strategies for the Midwest region.

Based in Geraldton this position is full-time (1.0 FTE) and entails travel within the Midwest region. Part time opportunities may be considered for the right candidate (minimum of 0.6 FTE)

What youll be doing:

  • Promoting and providing information on cancer prevention and early detection strategies in the community
  • Coordinating professional and public education events on cancer in the Midwest region
  • Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with the local media primary care professionals local governments and community organisations in your region
  • Being the spokesperson for Cancer Council WA in the Midwest region
  • Identifying resources and partnerships to support our relevant projects and initiatives
  • Providing monthly reporting on activities carried out over your region
  • Attending and participating in Regional Education team meetings as required

About you

  • To be successful in this role you will need:
  • A tertiary qualification in a health area (health promotion education nursing) or a minimum of 2 years experience in a community development role
  • Knowledge of regional health services and issues (desirable)
  • Knowledge of cancer control issues (desirable)
  • Experience working with the media (desirable)
  • Highly developed interpersonal verbal including public speaking and written communication skills
  • A National Police Clearance (required if successful)
  • A current Western Australian Drivers Licence
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the values of Cancer Council WA
  • Positive approach to the workplace
