FAO is a specialized agency of the UN that leads international efforts to defeat hunger. FAOs goal is to achieve food security for all and ensure that people have regular access to enough high-quality food to lead active healthy lives. With 195 Members (194 countries and the European Union) FAO works in over 130 countries worldwide.
FAO Country Offices working under overall corporate guidance and in line with the Strategic Framework offer policy advice and support to countries in the mandated areas of FAO facilitated through partnerships resources and an active country programme to provide technical assistance develop capacities and deliver core services while fully observing international standards of accountability to establish leadership and strengthen impact at the country level.
The offices deliver on the programmatic priorities of each country as agreed in their respective Country Programming Frameworks (CPFs) aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) and ensure effective and efficient operations with adequate human and financial resources.
Specifically FAO Country Offices:
advocate inform and support policies and investments in the areas of FAOs mandate;
provide technical assistance and deliver core services;
assist and catalyse partnership and resource mobilization activities to support agrifood systems transformation;
position FAO as the specialized/authoritative technical agency in food and agriculture and agrifood systems transformation; and
ensure risk-smart and accountable operations and management.
The position is located in the FAO Country Office in Islamabad
The following position is at SB3 SC6 level.
Reporting Lines
Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative and the direct supervision of Assistant FAOR (Programme) and in close coordination with the project managers and technical teams across all FAO projects the incumbent will provide partnership support to ensure improved coordination with government and other stakeholders across programmes.
Technical Focus
Ensure effective coordination with government entities UN agencies development partners academia and the private sector; provide strategic programme planning coordination and reporting support across FAOs project portfolio; support donor engagement through the preparation of briefings and information products;; and facilitate internal and inter-agency coordination including events and field-level engagements.
Tasks and responsibilities
Support preparation of information products including PowerPoint decks and briefing notes to share information with internal and external stakeholders.
Maintain awareness of current activities political and social events of UN and other multilateral bodies and the government conduct analysis to understand how they may impact FAO activities and programmes and provide timely information to FAO teams for decision-making.
Support preparation of briefing documents for external meetings with donors and other partners.
Work with Project Managers and communication officers to support events including field visits workshops and other external engagements.
Support in planning and managing activities developing terms of reference concept notes presentation and briefs to support engagement with targeted partners
Close coordination with partner government development and humanitarian agencies on strategies frameworks and priorities.
Maintain and update unit databases planning matrix and reporting schedules for the portfolio.
Proactively connect with government academia and private sector stakeholders to contribute in expanding partnership with FAO Pakistan.
Perform other duties as required.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
University degree in Business or Public Administration International Relations Economics and other relevant field.
Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible work experience in international development in programme management report writing in a related field.
A working knowledge of English language and ability to work in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams is essential.
