Job Summary

We are seeking a caring patient and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive primary school in Leatherhead starting as soon as possible. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils with special educational needs and helping them achieve both academically and emotionally.

The school has a strong focus on inclusion and pupil wellbeing. Staff work collaboratively to provide tailored support for pupils with a range of needs including ASD ADHD speech and language difficulties and social emotional and mental health needs. Senior leadership is supportive and ensures staff receive training guidance and opportunities for professional development.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant you will work closely with class teachers the SENCo and other support staff to provide targeted support for pupils either on a 1:1 basis or in small groups. You will help create a safe structured and nurturing learning environment that promotes confidence independence and positive behaviour.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN

  • Support pupils academic social and emotional development

  • Assist with the implementation of individual education plans

  • Adapt activities and resources to meet individual learning needs

  • Promote positive behaviour engagement and independence

  • Work collaboratively with teachers SENCo and support staff

  • Support pupils with personal care where required

  • Monitor and record progress and contribute to reviews and reports

  • Maintain a calm safe and inclusive learning environment

  • Support pupils during transitions playtimes and school activities

  • Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times

  • Have experience supporting children with SEN (school or care setting)

  • Be committed to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
