We are seeking a compassionate patient and dedicated SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive primary school in Barking starting as soon as possible. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting a pupil with additional needs and helping them thrive both academically and emotionally within a mainstream school setting.
The school has a strong commitment to inclusion and pupil wellbeing. Staff work closely together to provide personalised support for pupils with a range of needs including ASD ADHD speech and language difficulties and social emotional and mental health needs. Senior leadership is supportive and ensures staff receive appropriate training guidance and opportunities for professional development.
As an SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant you will work closely with a named pupil to provide consistent tailored support throughout the school day. You will help the pupil access learning manage emotions and behaviour and develop independence and confidence. You will also work collaboratively with the class teacher SENCo and external professionals to implement individual support strategies effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with SEN
Support the pupils academic social and emotional development
Assist with the implementation of individual education and behaviour plans
Adapt learning activities and resources to meet the pupils needs
Promote positive behaviour emotional regulation and independence
Support the pupil during lessons transitions and playtimes
Work closely with the class teacher SENCo and support staff
Monitor progress and contribute to reviews and reports
Maintain a calm safe and supportive learning environment
Support personal care where required
Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times
