Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from high school (or equivalent of a high school education as determined by passing the general education development test approved by the California Department of Education)
AndFour (4) years of relevant education and/or experience.
(a) One year of education shall consist of either thirty (30) passing semester units or forty-five (45) passing quarter units from a recognized accredited four-year college or university.
(b) Relevant experience means employment experience within the last ten years in any of the following occupations:
(i) an accountant auditor real property appraiser building cost estimator engineer real estate loan agent real estate loan underwriter right-of-way agent licensed building contractor or
(ii) a real estate licensee licensed by the California Department of Real Estate engaged in buying selling leasing or managing real estate or
(iii) an appraiser aide or appraiser trainee in an assessors office or in the property taxes department of the Board of Equalization (BOE) or
(iv) an employee other than an appraiser appraiser aide or appraiser trainee of an assessors office or of the property taxes department of the BOE except that such employment time shall be limited to qualifying for only 32 months of the four-year experience requirement. The remaining 16 months of time shall be accumulated by education or relevant experience as described in subparagraphs (a) (b)(i) (b)(ii) and (b)(iii) above.
Note: If the word experience is referenced in the minimum qualifications it means full-time paid experience unless the minimum qualification states that volunteer experience is acceptable. Part-time paid experience may be accumulated and pro-rated to meet the total experience requirements.

Special Requirements
Appraiser Certification: Incumbents in this class must acquire permanent certification as an appraiser by the California State Board of Equalization within one yearfrom the date of appointment. Failure to maintain the appropriate valid certification constitutes cause for disciplinary action up to and including termination from the class in accordance with the Countys Civil Service Rules Section 11.4 (q).
Drivers License: Incumbents this class must possess a valid California Drivers License Class C or higher before the date of appointment. Failure to maintain a valid California Drivers License constitutes cause for disciplinary action up to and including termination from the class in accordance with the Countys Civil Service Rules Section 11.4 (q). Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Physical: Incumbents may be required to stoop kneel and inspect buildings and other structures; climb fences stairs and ladders; walk in rough terrain and muddy fields; distinguish measurements as small as 1/20th of an inch.
Probationary Period
The probationary period for this classification is twelve(12)months.

FORMULA RATE EXAMINATION (Weighted 100%)
All candidates meeting the minimum qualifications by the cut-off date will have their Supplemental Questionnaire scored in the Formula Rate Examination.
This examination will evaluate the relevance level recency progression and quality of candidates education training and experience. The candidates application or other materials will not be included in this examination. Therefore the candidates responses to the supplemental questionnaire should be thorough detailed and complete. The score from the Formula Rate Examination will determine the ranking on the eligible/employment list for this job.
All candidates competing in the testing process will receive written notice of their examination results by email. Notices can also be accessed in their inbox. Applicants achieving a passing score will be placed on the eligible list in rank order. The rank is determined by the test score attained from the examination.
