Senior Facilities Operations Manager
Job Summary
The Senior Facilities Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation maintenance and strategic planning of facilities to ensure safe efficient and cost-effective environments. This role provides leadership to facilities teams manages vendors and budgets ensures regulatory compliance and drives continuous improvement across all facilities operations.
Key Responsibilities
Facilities Operations & Maintenance
Oversee daily operations of all facilities including building systems (HVAC electrical plumbing fire/life safety and security).
Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance programs are executed effectively.
Respond to and manage escalated facilities issues and emergencies.
Leadership & Team Management
Lead coach and develop facilities staff and supervisors.
Set performance goals conduct evaluations and support training and development initiatives.
Foster a culture of safety accountability and continuous improvement.
Strategic Planning & Projects
Develop and implement long-term facilities strategies aligned with organizational goals.
Lead capital projects renovations and space planning initiatives from planning through completion.
Partner with stakeholders to assess current and future facility needs.
Vendor & Contract Management
Manage relationships with external vendors contractors and service providers.
Negotiate contracts monitor service level agreements and ensure quality and cost control.
Ensure vendors comply with safety security and regulatory requirements.
Budgeting & Financial Management
Develop and manage facilities operating and capital budgets.
Track expenditures identify cost-saving opportunities and ensure fiscal responsibility.
Prepare reports and present budget updates to senior leadership.
Compliance Safety & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with all applicable building codes environmental regulations and health and safety standards.
Lead safety programs inspections audits and risk mitigation efforts.
Oversee sustainability and energy-efficiency initiatives where applicable.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
Track KPIs related to facilities performance costs and service delivery.
Use data and best practices to improve operational efficiency and occupant experience.
Provide regular updates and recommendations to executive leadership.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelors degree in Facilities Management Engineering Business Administration or a related field (or equivalent experience).
810 years of progressive experience in facilities operations or management.
Proven experience managing teams budgets and complex facilities portfolios.
Strong knowledge of building systems maintenance practices and regulatory requirements.
Preferred
Professional certifications such as CFM FMP PMP or LEED.
Experience with CMMS and facilities management software.
Experience leading large or multi-site facilities operations.
