Job Summary

Summary

This position is located at USAG Rheinland-Pfalz - MWR Pulaski Outdoor Recreation Program Kaiserslautern Germany.

Duties

  • Operates a motor coach to transport large groups of people on trips where day and night driving are involved.
  • Drives in a variety of driving situations such as congested highways metropolitan areas narrow country or mountain roads and steep winding grades. Ensures the safe travel of passengers.
  • Performs preventive maintenance. Arranges for towing and unexpected repairs. Arranges for parking and storage as required.
  • Assists with loading and unloading cargo and materials. Ensures vehicle is not loaded beyond the rated capacity.

  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Light to moderate physical effort is required in reaching bending turning or moving hands arms feet and legs to operate hand and foot controls.
  • Moderate physical effort is required in making couplings and maneuvering the longer and heavier vehicles.
  • Moderate physical effort is required in handling objects weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally heavier objects with the assistance of others or weight handling equipment.
  • Heavy physical effort is required to climb on tractors to load or tie down cargo.
  • Drives outside in all kinds of weather in all types of traffic at highway speeds over complicated road and interchange systems.
  • Exposed to dirt and fumes and the possibility of cuts bruises and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or from falling objects when loading and unloading the vehicle.
  • Subject to satisfactory condition of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3 para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation anda physical examination.
  • As a condition of employment incumbent of a TDP is subject to a random drug test that occurs without suspicion that a particular individual is using illegal drugs.
  • Must be willing and able to work evenings weekends and MWR Special Events.

Qualifications

Resumes must be two pages (or less). Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicants relevant experience skills knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position.

A qualified candidate must possess the following:

  1. Experience and training that equip the applicant with knowledge skills and abilities needed to perform the duties of this position consistent with accepted practices of the trade.
  2. Ability to use and maintain appropriate tools equipment and applicable vehicles based on gross weight (32000 pounds).
  3. Ability to read understand and apply instruction and other materials related to the job.
  4. Ability to do the work of the position under normal supervision.
  5. Skill in operating vehicles over a variety of roads and assessing traffic conditions and hazards.
  6. Skill in using judgment to load and unload individuals or cargo/supplies clearances turning radius safe braking distances connect and disconnect air brakes and electrical lines as needed etc.
  7. Knowledge of vehicle safety regulations to determine when mechanical or operational problems indicate that vehicles are unsafe for operation.
  8. Required to possess/maintain a valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL).

In addition to the above qualifications candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered Highly Preferred or Best Qualified:
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a European Commercial Drivers License.
