Job Summary
- 6 month engagement possible extensions.
- Interview Process: Video then F2F is required
- Hybrid may have to come onsite 1-2x per month in Reston VA - DMV or surrounding states (driving states only).
- Start date: Jan 2026 - They have some in-house changeman ZMF employees who are off-boarding they need to replace them ASAP to keep things moving. Critical to move quickly here.
- They are Migrating from Mainframe Changeman ZMF platform to DevOps solution (IDZEE which is an IBM collection of applications in middleware). This will take their current MF base development to a more current set of devops tool stacks like artifactory jenkins bitbucket
- Must have ChangeMan ZMF admin background heavy MF background and IDZEE. Changeman ZMF and IDzEE background are both needed.
- Specific migration from ZMF to DevOps is a really really NICE TO HAVE and will interview those first - but would be okay with MF and DevOps separate knowledge
- Java and Cloud stacks are nice to have but not required.
Our client is in the process migrating from the our existing mainframe SCM ChangeMan ZMF to a DevOps-based IDzEE implementation using Bitbucket Jenkins and other tools built around a version of IBM Mainframe development accelerators. When the project is completed the organization will be operating exclusively using the DevOps-based tools. We are seeking Software Engineers with similar experience to support our clients initiatives.
The selected candidate will perform complex analysis design development testing and debugging of computer software ranging from operating system architecture integration and software design to selection of computer systems language and/or equipment. Designs develops/codes tests and documents critical and complex application programs for computer systems. Works with appropriate stakeholders to define system scope and objectives and establish baselines. Establishes project standards and processes. Breaks down software requirements and creates highly complex systems. This position will support the organization by being part of a matrixed team of software development professionals providing application development expertise using the COBOL programming language and environments.
This is a contract position and is mostly remote (onsite 1-2x per month in Reston VA and/or Wash DC). This position will require a final round F2F/onsite interview with our customer in their Washington DC or Reston VA office.
- Experience: Seven (7) years of Software Engineering expertise to include the following:
(1) Must have application development expertise using the COBOL programming language and environments (CICS JCL TSO/ISPF ChangeMan )
(2) Very technically proficient in ChangeMan ZMF is a MUST. Excellent knowledge of ZMF integration with such tools as RACF XPEditer JobScan Email via SMTP CICS DB2 ISPF/TSO Dialog Manager Panels/Skeletons and REXX programming
(3) Proficient Knowledge of database technologies (e.g. DB2 cloud SQL Oracle Mongo DB PostgreSQL etc.)
(4) Strong DevOps / IDzEE knowledge / best practices / CI/CD pipelines experience with Deployment/Continuous Integration/Continuous Testing/ Continuous Delivery processes and tools and have expertise in CI/CD tools and framework
