ABOUT THE POSITION

The Senior Commercial Staff Accountant ensures the financial integrity of domestic and international customer-facing transactions within a multi-ERP environment (NetSuite Sage and Visual). This role manages the complex accounting lifecycle for sales discounts trade marketing and co-op programs delivering precise journal entries and reconciliations in strict accordance with GAAP. By overseeing month-end close tasks and consolidating financial statements this position safeguards the accuracy of commercial records across a diverse high-growth consumer products portfolio.

As a strategic partner this role collaborates with cross-functional leaders to align commercial activity with financial reporting and operational goals. Through detailed budget variance analysis and forecasting the Senior Staff Accountant provides actionable insights that support the companys financial health. Beyond routine reporting this individual is a catalyst for process improvement developing efficient workflows and supporting evolving accounting procedures to enhance the departments productivity in a dynamic global market.

Essential Job Functions:

Commercial Accounting & Month-End Close

  • Prepare accurate and properly documented proposed journal entries and account reconciliations (especially customer-related GL accounts) for review and approval.
  • Create and maintain documentation supporting all customer-program transactions including monthly activity reconciliations.
  • Perform assigned portions of the month-end close with minimal supervision ensuring accurate and documented proposed journal entries.
  • Ensure accurate recording of all transactions and adjustments in compliance with GAAP.
  • Assist in developing and implementing new accounting procedures to enhance department process efficiency and workflow.
  • Act as an integral member of project teams focused on process change and improvement as the company evolves.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Assist in preparing monthly quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements.
  • Conduct financial analysis including budget variance analysis and forecasting.
  • Aid in the maintenance of financial systems and databases.
  • Cross-functional collaborate with departments (e.g. operations IT) to gather and analyze financial data highlighting areas for improvement.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Business with a CPA designation or active pursuit of certification.
  • 45 years of progressive commercial accounting experience with 23 years in a senior or supervisory capacity preferred.
  • Hands-on experience operating within NetSuite Sage and Visual ERP systems to manage multi-entity transactions.
  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power BI for high-level financial analysis and reporting.
  • Proven experience in a manufacturing environment managing complex inventory warehouse receipts and three-way matching.
  • Skilled in managing international supplier bases foreign currency conversions (HKD GBP) and APAC/UK payroll and tax compliance.
  • Deep understanding of GAAP principles and financial reporting standards to ensure consolidated financial integrity.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets reconcile complex financial data and analyze costs and utilization.

SKILLS:

  • Ability to manage annual consolidated audits and specialized international audits while ensuring general corporate compliance.
  • Skill in maintaining consolidating income statements and balance sheets by uploading trial balances across disparate ERP systems.
  • Experience coordinating state foreign (CRA) and value-added tax (VAT) filings alongside US Census Bureau reporting.
  • Excellent proficiency in other Microsoft Suite programs including Power BI.
  • Solid interpersonal skills with proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong teamwork and project management skills combined with ability to work as part of a cross functional team; companyhas a matrix structure where working across countries and functions is a part of reality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to clearly articulate complex information to diverse internal and external audiences.
  • Results oriented and driven with a track record for delivering to plan.
  • Flexibility to adapt quickly to changing circumstances. Able to proactively question and challenge to prioritize and identify solutions in timely manner.
  • Curious in nature and always looking to question learn and look for better ways to do things.
