This is a senior leadership role at the heart of the Councils economic development function responsible for driving the citys economic vision policy direction and strategic partnerships.
You will lead Nottinghams Economic Strategy function ensuring that our priorities are evidence-based forward-looking and aligned with the opportunities emerging through devolution and the East Midlands County Combined Authority (EMCCA). About the Role

You will lead Nottinghams Economic Strategy function ensuring that our priorities are evidence-based forward-looking and aligned with the opportunities emerging through devolution and the East Midlands County Combined Authority (EMCCA). This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives in a complex policy environment and is confident working with senior leaders across government business academia and the wider region.

What Youll Be Doing

As Economic Strategy Manager you will:

  • Lead the Councils Economic Strategy function setting policy direction developing service plans shaping business cases and coordinating major funding pipelines and bids.
  • Drive engagement with Nottinghams business community and partners including convening and managing the Nottingham Growth Board to deliver a Team Nottingham approach.
  • Represent the Council with senior national and regional stakeholders including DBT MHCLG DWP DfE universities and especially East Midlands County Combined Authority (EMCCA) ensuring Nottinghams priorities are positioned well within devolution and supporting members through briefing and advice.
  • Support the development and delivery of projects and programmes that stimulate business growth innovation and economic resilience across the city.
  • Manage and develop a team providing leadership while fostering a high-performance future-facing culture
  • Oversee high-level economic intelligence including analysis benchmarking and reporting that informs senior leaders and elected members.

About You

The ideal candidate will be a strategic collaborative and influential leader with:

  • Demonstrable experience in economic strategy policy development and partnership working within a complex environment
  • Strong capability in economic research data analysis and evidence-based decision-making
  • A track record of delivering strategic responses and shaping policy within multi-agency or regional partnerships.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to brief senior leaders and represent the Council externally with authority.
  • Experience developing services aligned with local priorities including equality diversity and inclusion.
  • A proactive and collaborative mindset able to navigate ambiguity and lead through influence.
