The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS) is currently looking to fill one or more Experienced Police Officer position(s).

Eligible applicants for the Experienced Officer posting must:



  • Be a current sworn police officer with a minimum of 2 years of policing experience with a Canadian federal provincial municipal or First Nations police service (*Basic police training timemay be includedin the 2-year experience calculation) or a former police officer who has been separated from their police service or agency for less than 2 years.
  • Have a minimum of Alberta Grade 12 or equivalent education (certificate required).
  • Have Proof of their Canadian citizenship or permanent residency.
  • Must submit a drivers abstract dated within six months of application with no more than five (5) demerit points.
  • Not have a criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted (proof of pardon required) nor have any criminal charges before the courts.
  • Have an exemplary record of service and performance history.
  • *Special Constables and members of a police agency outside Canada are not eligible to enter the Experienced Officer Training Program. *



Experienced Police Officer applicants will participate in the complete recruiting process and meet the standards set out by the Alberta Police Selection and Employment Manual and provincial guidelines for recruiting.



**PLEASE NOTE: Alberta Communication Test (ACT) Alberta Police Cognitive Ability Test (APCAT) and First Aid are not required for this process.



COMPENSATION

Successful Experienced Officer applicants hired by the LPS may receive:

  • Up to $5000 moving allowance with the submission of taxable receipts. (*Only applies to those moving from more than a 50 Km radius from Lethbridge)
  • Front loading of Leave hours up to 120 hours
  • Hired at the rate of pay consistent with your complete years of experience but no higher than the First-Class Constable rate of pay or the rank of Constable.

STEPS OF HIRING PROCESS

All components of the selection process will be administered scored evaluated and interpreted in a fair and uniform manner. The duration of the process can take up to six months.

    • Complete ALL necessary forms: Hearing & Vision test Alberta Physical Readiness Evaluation for Police Officers (APREP)/Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation (PARE) Medical Form etc. and save them.
  • Along with the Application and Personal Disclosure Form please combine all needed Supporting documents and upload them into the appropriate upload area.
    • Please submit your application the BambooHR link below
    • packages will be reviewed by recruiting officers prior to the APREP testing.
    • Successful completion of the APREP concurrent to Provincial standards OR the PARE physical abilities test in a score of 4 minutes or less is a prerequisite for this testing will be arranged and paid for by the Lethbridge Police Service. PARE testing will be arranged and paid for by the applicant who will be reimbursed if hired.
