The Academy of Alameda Special Education Program Administrator is a highly qualified individual with a deep knowledge of special education compliance and practices who will lead the Special Education Department and work collaboratively with students staff and families.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Ensure continuous improvement and coordinate special education services and compliance for all special education services including students IEPs in collaboration with the Principal
• Serve as initial contact and apply judgment when problem solving issues related to IEP implementation placement services transition or other IEP-related services in collaboration with case managers
• Collaborate with all deans to support school teams in their understanding of learning and behavior disabilities and their manifestations in the classroom
• Supervise and train case managers instructional aides and other special education staff as needed in coordination with school leadership
• Provide ongoing coaching and ensure regular trainings occur for special education staff
• Oversee special education compliance with support from SELPA
• Review caseloads with school leadership on a regular basis to ensure consistency compliance and maximization of resources
• Support case managers with the development and implementation of behavior plans and student schedules
• Serve as an administrator at IEP meetings
• Plan and lead Special Education department meetings
• Participate in Intervention Team meetings for both Elementary and Middle School
• Collaborate closely with ERMHs provider and school psychologist on assessment and ongoing supports for students
• Collaborate closely with the Sonoma County Charter SELPA to design and implement a high-quality program by receiving training seeking advice documenting finances and participating fully in the SELPAs meetings activities and committees

Desired Qualifications:

• Valid California Education Specialist credential
• Bachelors Degree required
• Masters in Special Education or related area preferred
• Minimum 5 years Special Education experience
• Knowledge of and involvement in special education compliance discipline laws and procedures
• Knowledge of current tools and techniques utilized throughout the state to assess and monitor student performance.
• Experience with SEIS
