The House of Commons Procedural Services is currently looking to staff the Protocol Officer position.
The International and Interparliamentary Affairs Directorate a joint directorate of the Senate and the House of Commons is responsible for the coordination of the Parliament of Canadas external relations and activities. The directorate provides support to parliamentary associations and recognized interparliamentary groups.
As a Protocol Officer you will be responsible for organizing and executing a variety of activities for the Speakers and Parliamentary Exchanges and Associations. The incumbent must draw on their organizational and analytical skills to plan coordinate and deliver administrative budgetary logistical protocol and technical services to support these activities (e.g. official visits domestic and international travel of delegations conferences parliamentary events).
You may sometimes be required to travel and/or work extended or irregular hours weekends or overtime on short notice in support of these responsibilities.
On-site work schedules vary according to operational needs. Individuals must be willing to work up to five days on-site.

Qualifications :
Education :
- A post-secondary school degree or diploma in a discipline related to the functions of the position OR an acceptable combination of education training and relevant experience.
Experiences :
- Experience in planning coordinating and executing the logistics of complex activities events and projects;
- Experience providing high level quality services to various clients including dignitaries demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and diplomacy;
- Experience working on multiple concurrent projects and activities under considerable pressure and within tight timeframes;
- Experience in providing advice and information on protocol procedures;
- Experience in conducting research ensuring quality assurance and in preparing written material.
Assets :
- Experience with procurement policies practices and procedures;
- Experience organizing national and international events;
- Experience working in a financial environment including budget management and the verification and consolidation of post-event statements expenses invoices reimbursement requests and travel rates and allowances.
