Why your Role Matters
In this newly established Senior Governance Officer role you will play an integral role across P&C delivering highlevel operational and governance support that aligns with UNSWs governance standards and expectations.
Working closely with the P&C executive team and in partnership with a fellow Senior Governance Officer you will drive the production of consistent highquality compliance papers and reporting across the function. As a dedicated resource your team will coordinate timely contributions from P&C Directors providing expert guidance insight and direction to ensure all submissions meet internal and external requirements.
Reporting to the Executive Officer (People & Culture) you will offer pivotal executive governance support and safeguard the effective fulfilment of reporting and governance obligations. This role is crucial in championing best practice through the design and management of scalable systems templates and reporting tools that strengthen efficiency consistency and accountability across P&C outputs.
Accountabilities:
- Provide high-level governance support and advice to e Team.
- Proactively advise influence and contribute to governance planning and framework of the P&C function.
- Drive the preparation and coordination of papers reports briefings and proposals for internal governance bodies.
- Provide advice on implementation of governance structures and policy to support ongoing effective decision making.
- Proactively monitor document and report on the progress of any governance related activities
- Drive the development of documentation required for the effective management and operation of committees including systems to track and action decisions arising from governance meetings audits and reviews.
Who you are: A professional with a strong understanding of implementing governance and compliance requirements in a large complex organisation comfortable building effective relationships with senior stakeholders across the University to manage governance matters from start to finish alongside the following skills & experience:
- Relevant tertiary qualification with extensive relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education training and experience.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate high-quality submissions and reports across multiple senior stakeholders with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and strict deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to prepare clear professional and fit-for-purpose documents.
- Confidence in engaging with and influencing senior leaders to ensure timely contributions and accountability.
- Sound understanding of governance compliance and regulatory frameworks relevant to employment and workplace obligations in Australia (or capacity to quickly develop this knowledge).
