Job Summary
The Neurosurgical ICU Registered Nurse provides high-quality patient-centered care to critically ill neurosurgical patients. This role involves close collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to assess plan implement and evaluate individualized plans of care in a fast-paced critical care environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assess plan implement and evaluate nursing care for critically ill neurosurgical patients
Develop and coordinate individualized plans of care through ongoing assessments
Perform therapeutic nursing interventions aligned with critical care standards
Manage and monitor patients requiring advanced life support and neurological monitoring
Accurately document care based on standards of practice patient acuity and clinical priorities
Advocate for evidence-based practices and patient-centered care
Support quality improvement initiatives and unit goals
Perform additional duties as assigned
Required Experience & Skills
Minimum 2 years of recent Critical Care (ICU) experience required
Strong preference for experience with:
Neurosurgical patient populations
Mechanical ventilation management
External Ventricular Drains (EVDs)
Education
Required: ASN
Preferred: BSN
Certifications & Licensure
Active NJ RN License or Compact License
BLS (AHA)
ACLS (AHA)
Telemetry
NIHSS
Stroke CEU 4 Contact Hours
