AMRT Rotor Repair Engineer located in GEVSS Service Center
Job Description
As part of the Advanced Manufacturing and Repair Technology Team the Rotor Repair Engineer role is responsible for the engineering ownership of rotor components for services focusing on technology and productivity initiatives. This role will focus on development and industrialization of regional HA rotor repairs creating standardized processes for NPI fulfilment and growth as well as supporting B/E/F class rotor repairs in the GEVSS shop and globally.
What You Will Do
Develop and industrialize HA rotor repair technology for the GEVSS shop
Provide engineering review and dispositions of shop non conformances for B/E/F class rotor repair
Develop and industrialize new repair process technology to be implemented in repair strategy
Author and own HA Repair Engineering Instructions as well as fixture and tooling drawings
Collaborate with Product Services to establish Rotor Life Extension operational history and support Root Cause Analysis studies
Interface with MPE and Design engineering and lead design reviews for repair development
Lead projects to directly impact productivity and fulfillment efforts
Work with RDC and service center engineers to perform repair process technology testing in the RDC or in the shop
Establish and maintain inspection criteria
Support component related readiness to serve needs for global service centers
Substantiation of service center repair process qualifications/certifications
Drive a culture of one Gas Power team by partnering with adjacent organizations/stakeholders
Deliver operational commitments and key process indicator targets
Improve quality delivery and cost of GE products within teams scope
Implement lean methodologies including standard work standard product and kaizen
What Do You Bring
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Materials Engineering Materials Science or related engineering field of study from an accredited college or university
Minimum of 3 years of experience working in with and/or supporting a Manufacturing/Design environment
Travel to repair centers customer sites and other locations as needed globally (10%)
How To Stand Out
Masters Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
Experience in Gas Turbine rotor manufacture design or repair
Lean training or equivalent quality training
Strong mechanical design and analytical background
Familiarity with manufacturing processes
Ability to drive projects to completion
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers
