Junior HR & Payroll Support

Reports To: HR Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time In-Person (5 days/week)
Annual Salary: $50000
Vacation: 2 weeks per year
Position Overview
The Junior HR/Payroll Support role is an entry-level position designed for an individual with 12 years of payroll and HR experience who is eager to grow within the HR function. This role provides day-to-day administrative support to the HR Manager and assists with payroll processing employee documentation and general HR operations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented organized and comfortable working in a fast-paced people-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Support
  • Assist with bi-weekly payroll processing.
  • Verify timesheets hours worked and employee data for accuracy.
  • Support the maintenance of payroll records and employee files.
  • Respond to basic payroll-related inquiries from employees.
  • Assist with onboarding payroll setup and offboarding payroll changes.

HR Administration
  • Maintain and update employee personnel files ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Support the onboarding process including preparing new hire packages and collecting required documentation.
  • Assist with offboarding tasks such as exit checklists and file archiving.
  • Prepare letters forms and HR documents as needed (employment letters verification letters etc.).
  • Support HR data entry and maintain HRIS accuracy.
  • Assist with benefits administration tasks such as enrollments changes and employee questions.

General Support
  • Provide administrative support to the HR Manager on day-to-day tasks and special projects.
  • Help ensure compliance with company policies and employment standards.
  • Respond to employee inquiries and direct them to appropriate resources.
  • Contribute to a positive professional and supportive workplace culture.

Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources Business Administration or a related field.
  • 12 years of payroll experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of payroll legislation and employment standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel Word Outlook).
  • Experience with HRIS or payroll systems is an asset.
Work Environment
  • This is a full-time in-person role.
  • The role involves regular interaction with employees and management.
