An established independent town and country planning consultancy is seeking an experienced Director-level Town Planner to join its Swindon-based team and play a key role in the continued growth and leadership of the business.

This consultancy is known for its specialist expertise and high-quality advice operating as a deliberately focused and well-regarded practice with a strong track record across the UK planning system. The team provides strategic planning input on a wide range of development projects offering clients clear balanced and commercially informed guidance throughout the planning process.

The role offers the opportunity to work within a specialist consultancy environment where planning expertise is complemented by the interpretation and coordination of technical disciplines such as environmental constraints analysis urban design heritage and biodiversity enhancement. This integrated approach enables the business to deliver well-rounded planning strategies and robust outcomes for clients.

The Role

Providing senior leadership and strategic direction across planning projects
Leading complex planning applications and appeals from inception to determination
Advising clients on planning strategy risk and delivery
Overseeing project teams and mentoring junior and mid-level planners
Supporting business development and contributing to the long-term growth of the consultancy
Acting as a senior representative of the business with clients stakeholders and local authorities

About You

Chartered Town Planner (RTPI)
Significant experience within planning consultancy or a similar professional environment
Strong understanding of the UK planning system and development-led planning
Proven ability to lead projects manage client relationships and contribute at a strategic level
Commercially aware with an interest in business development and growth
Confident communicator with strong leadership and mentoring skills
