An Outstanding secondary school in Leicester is looking to appoint a skilled and dedicated SENCO to lead its SEND provision. This is a pivotal role within the school offering the opportunity to influence whole-school practice and ensure pupils with additional needs receive outstanding support.
The Role
As SENCO you will have overall responsibility for SEND provision across KS3 and KS4 working closely with the Senior Leadership Team teaching staff families and external professionals. You will play a key role in shaping inclusive practice and ensuring statutory requirements are met effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic leadership of SEND across the school
Oversight of EHCPs reviews and statutory processes
Coordination of interventions and support strategies
Advising and supporting staff on inclusive classroom practice
Liaison with parents carers and external agencies
Monitoring progress and outcomes for pupils with SEND
Experience and Qualifications
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
NASENCO qualification (or willingness to complete)
Experience supporting SEND in a secondary school setting
Strong understanding of SEND legislation and EHCP processes
Confident communicator with the ability to lead and influence others
A calm organised and pupil-centred approach
