Position Purpose:
Reporting to the Manager of Graduate Studies Administration the incumbent promotes Telfer School of Management graduate programs ensuring student success and satisfaction and offering opportunities for personal and professional growth. Supervises coordinates and plans all academic activities and develops strategies to ensure that activity offerings are adapted to student needs.

In this role your responsibilities will include:

  • Human resources management: Handles hiring supervision and training of academic operations and advisement staff in accordance with University policies on performance management staff planning and team objectives and the teams development and training plan. Ensures that team members are accountable for meeting their responsibilities to attain and maintain high work standards.

  • Priorities and strategies: Sets priorities for the academic success and student experience team. Drafts annual and weekly action plans to meet Graduate Studies Office (GSO) objectives. Develops internal strategies and procedures to maximize student success and offer students opportunities for personal and professional growth while ensuring sound administration of the GSO. Coordinates the teams activities ensuring process efficiency.

  • Expertise and advice: Provides expert advice on interpreting and applying University policies. Handles exceptions to the Academic Regulations and assists the graduate studies administrator with any additional steps.

  • Process management and improvement: Implements processes favouring academic success and continued improvement of the student experience over the duration of programs of study. Coordinates assigns and reviews work distributing the workload fairly.

  • Collaboration: Maintains close connections with program directors and with professors teaching courses or supervising theses. Maintains connections with staff from the Telfer Research Office Career Centre and Student Services Centre for undergrads to ensure an integrated approach and high-quality services. Serves on various committees and maintains a peer network to share useful information and improve University policies and academic procedures related to own work.

What you will bring:

  • University degree preferably in management (or equivalent experience)

  • In-depth knowledge of undergraduate and graduate programs in terms of structure curricula and regulations

  • In-depth knowledge of university and faculty regulations

  • Experience in analyzing academic records and in interpreting communicating and applying university regulations and procedures

  • Experience in problem-solving

  • Experience in researching analyzing and producing data and statistical reports

  • Experience in managing human resources teams and conflict

  • Experience in serving clients by providing academic support

  • Ability to work well under pressure and to organize a teams work to meet strict deadlines (strong organizational skills)

  • Bilingualism English and French (spoken and written)
