The Teaching and Learning Centre at Mount Saint Vincent University invites applications for the position of Instructional Designer.

What youll do

Responsibilities

The Instructional Designer plays a key role in the development of online program offerings in Continuing Education. Working as part of a collaborative development team in the Teaching and Learning Centre the designer contributes to the creation and delivery of non-credit programming by analyzing curriculum documents applying a participant-focused lens to the design process and developing high-quality accessible learning assets. This role requires a strong understanding of adult learning theory and best practices in online education with a focus on creating accessible interactive and pedagogically-sound materials that support diverse learners. The primary responsibility of this position is to design develop and create high-quality learning assets using MSVUs suite of educational technologies including Moodle Blackboard Collaborate Ultra and Microsoft 365. The Instructional Designer works closely with the Coordinator Continuing Education and other team members to ensure that materials and courses meet instructional

What youll need

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree and a minimum of three years experience as an Instructional Designer in a higher education setting. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. They will have expertise with learning management systems and synchronous meeting spaces (e.g. Moodle Brightspace Blackboard Collaborate Ultra Zoom) and demonstrated expertise designing synchronous and asynchronous online courses with a preference for a candidate familiar with designing for higher education and adult learners. A strong understanding of instructional design principles and best practices familiarity with evidence based teaching and prior experience with Moodle H5P Interactive Content Articulate 360 and Canva is preferred.

Classification: 1 Year Full-time Term Contract Position
Salary: $ 60633 per annum
