We are currently seeking an MYP Instructional Coach which is a dedicated role focused on research-based data driven pedagogical coaching across the Middle Years Programme (Years 6-10).The Instructional Coach will work collaboratively with teachers administrators and MYP Coordinator to strengthen teaching and learning at UCC through collaboration professional growth and instructional innovation. This role will be reporting to the Director of Academics and collaborating with the MYP Coordinator Learning Leaders and Faculty Chairs.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

Pedagogical and Program Leadership

  • Serve as a thinking partner to teachers in Years 6-10 to develop written taught and assessed curriculum that meets individual learning needs;

  • Work with the MYP Coordinator and the middle years teaching teams to ensure strategic alignment with UCCs teaching and learning priorities supporting teachers in implementing best practices in pedagogy assessment and student engagement;

  • Guide and support teams in ongoing curriculum review;

  • Offer leadership to current strategic projects specifically supporting the transition and consistency of pedagogy across Year 7 and Year 8;

  • Respond to recent accreditation feedback by partnering with teachers to enhance Approaches to Teaching and Approaches to Learning with a specific focus on differentiation assessment feedback and reporting practices;

  • Collaborate with the PSLT (Program Senior Leadership Team) to help vision and implement a whole school coaching model;

  • Stay informed and current with research in education and collaborate in the ongoing development of exceptional teaching practices including AI pedagogy;

  • Participate in and help facilitate key team meetings including: APAC and Prep Program Team (PPT);

  • Represent UCC with outside professional networks and organizations especially those related to coaching.

Coaching and Faculty Development

  • Provide research-based data-driven individual pedagogical coaching using a student-centered approach;

  • Support high - functioning collaborative teams through team coaching cycles;
    • Collaborate with the academic team to plan and facilitate professional development;

    • Foster a learning-focused culture of curiosity and risk-taking amongst faculty;

    • Support the work around incorporating UCC lenses into the curriculum e.g. pluralism sustainability leadership systems thinking;

    • Support the implementation of a new learning management system curriculum mapping and reporting tools.

    Data and Learning Analytics

    • Provide expertise to grow data literacy and a culture of data-driven practice by helping teachers use student evidence including internal and external assessments to plan lessons and adjust instruction;

      Support the academic team in the analysis of program-specific data to determine coaching priorities driven by goals for student learning.

    Other duties

    • Collaborate with school-based leadership teams to respond to emergent pedagogical issues;

    • Model a culture of continuous learning and growth;

    • Supervise IB student project;

    • Participate in UCCs co-curricular program.

    Job Requirements

    Experience Knowledge and Competencies:

    • A masters degree in education or a related field preferred with specific training or certification in instructional coaching (e.g. Student-Centered Coaching Cognitive Coaching) considered an asset;

    • Demonstrated knowledge of pedagogy with a track record of implementing effective instruction including crafting learning targets using formative assessment and differentiating lessons;

    • Minimum of 5 years experience in the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) with the ability to partner with teachers to develop curriculum;

    • A disposition of curiosity and openness with the interpersonal skills to build trust and function as a non-evaluative thinking partner for faculty;

    • Excellent working knowledge of best practices in education including culturally responsive curriculum the integration of wellbeing in practice and the role and impact of generative and agentic AI in education;

    • Flexibility efficiency and integrity along with outstanding interpersonal communication and organizational skills;

    • Experience with training and leading the implementation of learning management software.

    This job is for a new vacancy. Compensation is based on the faculty salary grid which varies by qualifications and years of teaching experience. The range for 6 years or less of teaching experience is $77221-$110465 and the range for 7 years or more of teaching experience is $115869-$142132.
