Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Co-op Student to join our Communications team this summer term. If youre ready to dive into a sea of opportunities and tackle hands-on experience in both internal and external communications this role is for you! With a focus on writing editing and supporting various communication strategies and initiatives the position is ideal for students in their 3rd or 4th year of university or college or those who have recently graduated. You will have the chance to create engaging content collaborate with internal business partners to develop communications plans and support media relations ensuring you reel in valuable skills and experience while working in a fast-paced and innovative environment.

Essential Duties and responsibilities

  • Content Creation:
    • Develop engaging and effective content across various communication channels including intranet email speaker notes and presentations.
    • Review and edit content developed by internal business partners.
    • Produce highly visual and impactful content for digital signage communication boards.
    • Support opportunities to enhance the corporate brand and employee experience by contributing content for the LinkedIn company page.
  • Communication Planning:
    • Collaborate with partners across the business including HR IT Supply Chain Sales and Marketing to execute communication plans aligned with the business strategy.
    • Support the planning and execution of communications events including Town Halls employee engagement activities and external events.
    • Participate in brainstorming/strategy sessions and contribute creative ideas for communication campaigns and initiatives.
    • Conduct research and gather information for communication materials and strategies.
  • Monthly Reports and Administration Support:
    • Manage monthly administration of email distribution groups.
    • Provide general administrative support to the Communications team.
    • Update organize and enhance existing internal communication platforms and track and report analytics.
  • Media Relations:
    • Conduct media research and maintain contact lists.
    • Support the release of weekly external media newsletters monitor media coverage and trends and prepare summaries and reports for the company.
    • Monitor correspondence received in the companys communications email inboxes provide standardized responses and track interactions.

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience:
    • Enrolled in or recently graduated from a communications public relations journalism or related degree program.
    • Enthusiasm for learning and a passion for communications and public relations.
    • Previous internship or work experience in communications public relations or related field.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills demonstrated by the clear presentation of information and strong writing editing and proofreading.
    • Highly collaborative and creative team player with proven relationship-building skills.
    • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
    • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Experience with Microsoft Office Adobe intranet/content management platforms Canva and other relevant software.
    • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital communications tools.
    • Experience with media monitoring and analytics platforms an asset.
  • Critical Thinking and Adaptability:
    • Ability to carefully analyze information and proactively identify solutions.
    • Highly adaptable able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
    • Innovative mindset that enjoys change and driving improvements.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
