About Us

HumanAbility is a Jobs and Skills Council for the health human services aged care and disability sport & recreation and early childhood industries.

HumanAbilitys objective is to advance education by supporting skills and workforce development for the above specified industries. It is a values-based organisation that is not-for-profit industry-owned and led that is contracted by the federal government.

HumanAbility will achieve its objectives through:

  • Implementation of the Jobs & Skills Councils Strengthening Australias National Vocational Education and Training System program or its replacement program and similar programs supported by governments and/or industry;
  • Workforce planning activities that develop strategies to address workforce challenges using high-quality data and evidence on current and emerging skills needs (in collaboration with Jobs and Skills Australia) associated with a range of educational pathways including vocational education and training (VET) and higher education;
  • Formal and informal training product development including resources aligned with standards set by Skills Ministers to improve the quality speed-to-market and responsiveness of nationally recognised training products;
  • Contributions to the implementation promotion and monitoring of VET; and
  • Industry stewardship to advance education by acting as a source of intelligence on issues affecting relevant industries and national training system opportunities.

The Events and Engagement Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing the development management and delivery of strategic events and engagement to support the delivery of HumanAbilitys strategic and operational plans. . This full-time ongoing role (subject to funding currently through mid-2028) can be based anywhere in Australia and will involve regular travel for meetings workshops and industry events.

About the Role

This newly created role is a pivotal leadership position responsible for shaping and delivering HumanAbilitys strategic events and engagement program. Reporting to the Executive Director you will lead the planning and delivery of major national forums state and territory roadshows targeted stakeholder events and key internal all-staff events.

Working in close partnership with the Directors of Strategic Engagement and Policy and Strategic Communications you will translate strategic priorities into compelling event experiences overseeing tactics coordination and delivery of high-quality collateral communications and engagement materials.

This role is ideal for an experienced events and engagement professional who is passionate about creating memorable high-impact experiences that bring strategy to life and support organisational objectives.

Key Accountabilities

Event Planning

Develop annual event and engagement action plans aligned to strategic priorities.

Work with Executive and internal partners to deliver coordinated external engagements including roadshows.

Project Management

Manage end-to-end delivery of the events program.

Coordinate roles timelines and deliverables with Directors and Executive.

Oversee agendas presentations communications media digital and event collateral.

Provide on-site support to ensure smooth event delivery.

Stakeholder Management

Lead engagement with Board members Executive and external stakeholders.

Support stakeholder readiness through clear communication and effective information management.

Prepare targeted briefings and engagement materials.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Lead event delivery across the organisation and with external partners.

Ensure consistency with HumanAbilitys mission and engagement approach.

Industry Insight

Work with multi-disciplinary teams to understand stakeholder needs and industry challenges.

Ensure events are inclusive accessible and fit for purpose.

Risk Management

Identify and manage risks associated with events and engagements.

Ensure alignment with organisational values and purpose.

Contract Management and Logistics

Manage venues contracts catering and travel arrangements.

Ensure compliance with delegations processes and procedures.

Process Management

Implement structured event management processes and systems.

Use tools such as and the Stakeholder Relationship Management system.

Analysis and Continuous Improvement

Analyse event data and stakeholder feedback.

Coordinate surveys and evaluate outcomes to drive improvement.

Other

Comply with work health safety and wellbeing requirements.

Undertake other reasonable duties as required.

Travel as required.

Qualifications and Experience

Solid demonstrated experience leading and managing events in a relevant organisation.

Strategic thinker with the ability to align events and engagement with overarching organisational goals.

Cross-functional collaboration skills able to work effectively within a team and liaise with various internal and external stakeholders and ensure quality deliverables and products.

Planning and project management expertise with excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

Demonstrated high quality communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to adapt messaging for various stakeholders.

Ability to work independently and to lead manage and prioritise in a dynamic environment with a demonstrated ability to coordinate and foster collaborative relationships.

Other Information

There may be times when it is required to work outside normal business hours i.e. evenings and weekends to meet operational and/or stakeholder requirements and dependant on work deliverables the role may be required to undertake travel.

We operate a hybrid working model. While flexibility is supported the balance of office-based work in-person attendance at meetings events etc and remote work will vary depending on role location and business needs.
