Sika Canada Inc. Internship Program is looking for collaborative results-oriented candidates with strong critical thinking and communication skills. The internship is designed to give you an understanding of how safety is driven at a company who prioritizes safety first and has a strong safety culture.
During the internship you will be exposed to various aspects of safety management. You will develop the skills and knowledge needed to provide a solid foundation to build a career in the safety field.
Duration: 4 Months Internship
Core Functions:
Support Sikas safety culture and improvements by participating in projects or initiatives identified by the site. This could include:
- Developing training material using Office 365 PowerPoint
- Conduct new hire onboarding when required
- Updating procedures safe work instructions and/or JHAs
- Developing confined space hazard assessments reviewing and updating LOTO procedures and reviewing emergency response plans
- Gap Analysis pertaining to Sika min safety requirements
- Tracking and trending of proactive and reactive metrics
- Conduct procedural gap analysis on Sika Safe plans
- Conduct audits and develop reports with corrective actions
- Support new safety program such as OSG and Contractor Prequalification (Cognibox)
- Provide support to Plant Management in the Sphera incident reporting platform
- Provide administrative support and perform other tasks as required by the EHS team.
- Assist in training development. Participate in workplace inspections/JHSC meetings.
Qualifications :
Minimum requirement
- Demonstrate your level of understanding by responding to verbal or written inquiries from supervisors mentors or program manager.
- Analyze data and develop reports.
- Theoretical knowledge of the principles of lockout and health and safety.
- Good computer knowledge (Microsoft Office suite)
- Ability to work in a team
- Ease of collaboration with different stakeholders
- Adaptability and flexibility
- To be rigorous
- Focused on effective communications and information sharing
- Open-mindedness and friendliness
- Bilingual French and English an asset
Preferred Education
- Pursuing a degree in Health and safety industrial engineering or related field
Location of internship is Brantford ON. Internship will be conducted in-person
