Elliot Health Systems 42-bed full-service Level II Trauma Center Emergency Department provides the best care for patients and their families treating nearly 58000 patients annually. Board Certified/Eligible Emergency Medicine Physicians Nurse Practitioners Physician Assistants and Trauma & Critical Care Surgeons provide exceptional coverage in our department. Our trauma team of board-certified or board-eligible trauma and critical care surgeons treats community children and adults 24/7. A Pediatric Emergency Department with board-certified pediatric emergency medicine physicians an Acute Psychiatric Unit with dedicated psychiatric nurses and an Intermediate Care Area for less urgent patients to reduce length of stay. Our providers collaborate with in-house radiologists hospitalists critical care physicians and a multidisciplinary team of medical and surgical specialists to provide the best care and adapt to emergency medicine innovations.

About the Job:

The Resource Nurse directly oversees and serves as an immediate first line clinical resource to staff on a designated unit and shift. The Resource Nurse demonstrates well developed clinical competencies appropriate to specialty area when providing direct patient care or guiding other staff. Functions as an integral member of the units management team and works to ensure smooth real time operations of unit on assigned shift and adheres to values under the EHS Professional Practice Model which guide all dimensions of practice.

What Youll Do:

  • Models skilled communication true collaboration effective decision-making meaningful recognition and authentic leadership as described in Establishing and Sustaining Healthy Work Environments (AACN 2005).
  • Participates in professional enhancement activities. Examples include: membership in hospital-wide committees health system initiatives development of education materials professional association activities.
  • Collaborates with and serves as a resource to medical staff for relevant clinical and other issues.
  • Provides oversight and ensures smooth shift-based operations including but not limited to completion of unit specific tasks patient flow interdisciplinary collaboration patient satisfaction issue resolution and occurrence reporting.
  • Applies well developed critical thinking skills in guiding and assisting staff to identify and address clinical concerns in order to promote optimal patient outcomes.
  • Serves as a role model; coaches and mentors other staff promotes teamwork and assesses performance behavior and attendance of staff on assigned shift and communicates information to Clinical Nurse Manager to facilitate effective and timely completion of performance reviews.
  • In the absence of the Clinical Nurse Manager collaborates with Administrative Supervisor to address/stabilize management and operational issues requiring immediate attention; i.e. staffing and scheduling disciplinary actions.

Who You Are:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN required or must be actively enrolled in a program. Termination of a program without degree completion will remove eligibility for the role.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of current experience in an acute care setting required. Must be at a clinical level that reflects proficiency and in-depth knowledge of nursing practice.
  • License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of New Hampshire required.
  • Life support authorization (BLS ACLS etc.) appropriate to patient population required.
  • Specialty certification required within six (6) months of eligibility.
  • Ability to advance basic computer skills as the health system adds new systems or performs upgrades to existing systems.
