The Department
Alfred Care Groups Dietetics and Nutrition Department provides an integrated nutrition and dietetic service at The Alfred Sandringham and Caulfield Hospitals. The joint Nutrition Department is comprised of approximately 48EFT and 70 staff members. It is organised into 8 clinical streams and provides a 7-day service. Using evidence-based patient-centred care it provides clinical expertise to Alfred Healths patients during their healthcare journey including the prevention and treatment of malnutrition and the optimisation of nutritional wellbeing and recovery through tailored specialised nutrition therapy.
The Position Summary
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Grade 2 Dietitian to join Alfred Care Groups Dietetics and Nutrition Department for weekend shifts. The Department provides on-site weekend dietetic services at The Alfred Hospital with remote service coverage to Caulfield and Sandringham Hospital campuses. The Grade 2 ICU Weekend Dietitian is responsible for the ongoing provision of nutrition care to the ICU on Saturday or Sunday. They will support the coordination of the nutrition weekend service across other specialist areas including the trauma and stoke units. Opportunities will be provided for clinical supervision and to engage in quality work and professional development programs.
Skills and Qualifications Required
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- At least 3 years post-graduate experience in a hospital setting including experience in ICU
- Experience in the assessment and nutritional management of patients encompassing the provision of enteral nutrition and parenteral nutrition
- Excellent communication skills proficiency in nutrition education and basic computer skills
- Eligibility for membership of DA and APD credentialing
