JOB OVERVIEW

The Platform Engineering team at Legion is responsible for the development and evolution of core capabilities that underpin the work delivered by the various product teams at Legion. The goal of the Platform Engineering team is to enable the other teams across the company to rapidly deliver features that meet our growing scalability and a senior member of the Platform Engineering team you will be required to write secure efficient enterprise-quality Java code and have a deep understanding of the techniques and technologies that are necessary for scalability and performance. You will also need knowledge and experience with data modeling and relational application is developed using Spring Boot Hibernate MySQL ElasticSearch and Redis is deployed in AWS and is 100% cloud-native. Familiarity with these frameworks/technologies is a huge plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Design build and support key frameworks that are used by other engineering teams
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze design and implement new features
• Participate in code reviews design reviews and team meetings (sprint planning daily scrum sprint review and sprint retrospective)
• Write clean maintainable and efficient code that adheres to coding standards
• Make data-driven technical decisions
• Troubleshoot and debug issues as they arise in production and development environments
• Continuously improve the performance scalability and reliability of software applications

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• 7 years with backend technologies (Java 8 Spring Boot SQL)
• 3 years delivering software in a cloud-based environment (AWS GCP or Azure)
• 3 years working on building multi-tenant SaaS applications
• 3 years experience with designing and building APIs for external applications
• 3 years experience with relational database design
• Pragmatic understanding of software design principles and distributed systems architecture
• Self-starter with an appetite for continuous learning
• Thoughtful listener able to learn assimilate and leverage information from peers
• Strong personal work ethic focused on prioritization; action-oriented and driven to achieve positive results

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• Hands on experience with Docker & Kubernetes
• Proficiency in leveraging cloud products and services preferably AWS
• Prior experience in managing frameworks/systems for ensuring code quality such as Coverity SonarQube etc
