Responsibilities
- Procure vessel spares stores lubricants provisions and services in accordance with approved requisitions and company procedures.
- Prepare issue and manage Purchase Orders (POs) ensuring proper authorization accuracy and timely closure.
- Source competitive quotations perform price comparisons and negotiate with suppliers to achieve optimal cost and quality.
- Coordinate closely with Technical Superintendents Operations and Fleet teams to ensure timely delivery to vessels worldwide.
- Monitor and expedite outstanding orders arranging deliveries at the most cost-effective and operationally suitable ports.
- Ensure all procured items comply with technical specifications class flag and company requirements.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records supplier documentation and inventory-related reports for audit and compliance purposes.
- Handle delivery discrepancies quality issues and claims following up with suppliers for timely resolution.
- Monitor supplier performance and maintain an approved vendor list recommending improvements where necessary.
- Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies budgets and internal control procedures.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Maritime Studies Supply Chain Management Engineering Business or a related discipline.
- Minimum 23 years of purchasing or procurement experience preferably with a shipowner or ship management company.
- Good knowledge of marine spares stores logistics and shipboard procurement processes.
- Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications particularly Excel.
- Strong communication negotiation and coordination skills with the ability to work independently under time pressure.
