Who we are:

Sydney Water is undertaking a 10-year multibillion dollar Infrastructure program to renew expand & build infrastructure to support a more sustainable resilient and efficient water network for Sydneys growing population. We provide safe drinking recycled wastewater and stormwater services with a focus on reliability affordability and environmental sustainability. As a state-owned corporation we prioritize customers and communities.


About the role:

Were looking for an Environmental Advisor to help manage and improve environmental practices on our construction sites. Youll carry out regular site inspections speak with teams about changes and improvements needed and review documentation weekly. Strong communication and organization skills are key along with knowledge of environmental legislation risks and relevant codes and standards.


As an Environmental Advisor you will:

  • Provide expert environmental advice and support for project teams and stakeholders.
  • Conduct site inspections audits and incident investigations to ensure environmental standards are met.
  • Review and prepare environmental documentation and reports ensuring compliance with regulations and project requirements.
  • Implement and monitor environmental management systems policies and compliance on construction projects.

To thrive in this role you will bring:

  • Tertiary qualification in Environmental Management Science Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role (such as Environmental Advisor Officer Manager Scientist or Coordinator) ideally within construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental legislation ISO14001 and current environmental issues.
  • Highly organised with proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results.
  • Excellent communication analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively with field teams and stakeholders.

Important: This is an Environmental Advisor role focused on sustainability and environmental strategy. It is not an HSEQ position and applicants whose background is primarily in HSEQ will be considered only if they have substantial standalone environmental expertise.
