2341 SCHOOL-BASED VIRTUAL LEARNING FACILITATOR |
GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK |
Suffolk Public Schools seeks a School-Based Virtual Learning Classroom Facilitator that has a strong classroom presence with the ability to manage a classroom (in-person) in order to foster a positive learning environment to set students up for success as they receive instruction using a virtual platform. The ideal facilitator will also be comfortable using a variety of technology platforms to support student learning. |
This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects; work requires crouching reaching standing walking lifting grasping and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data operation of motor vehicles or equipment determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions. |

- Establish strong classroom systems and procedures to maximize student learning time
- Set clear classroom rules and expectations so all students can thrive using a virtual platform
- Manage student behavior in order to foster a positive learning environment
- Communicate regularly with the Virtual Learning teacher to build a collaborative partnership
- Serve as the liaison of grade input from the identified virtual programs Canvas LMS to the district grading system
- Troubleshoot basic technology support as needed
- Manage updates to student enrollments
- Communicate with parents regarding student learning in the virtual classroom

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES |
- Employee of district including access to district email address gradebook and SIS
- Completion of identified Training and Orientation
- Experience managing a classroom of students (preferred)
