Job Summary

Berry Street Education Services provide a range of rewarding educational programs across Victoria including a multi-campus school and other specialist education and outreach programs which support disengaged students.

Aligned to the regular school year and breaks this role is focused on Education Support Services for Children in Residential Care (CIRC) within the Southeast Melbourne Region helping young people link back into education.

  • Hybrid role - Noble Park location Boonwurrung Country
  • Part Time (0.6 FTE) Super & Salary Packaging
  • Base Salary $83K pa (0.6 pro rata) Super & Salary Packaging

Your Opportunity

The young people who live in residential care have complex needs leading to difficulties in the education setting and require assistance to re-engage with education.

The Education Case Manager - Education Specialist will liaise closely with a variety of stakeholders to ensure that each young person experiences success in their learning and to deliver education support that meets the individuals academic social and emotional needs of each young person.

  • Education Specialists provide advocacy for their students to return to learning. This is achieved through initial outreach care team interactions assessments educational planning enrolment support and liaising with education bodies.
  • Education Specialists will be required to Engage face-to-face with the young person Support their educational needs and Transfer them back to learning or services.
  • Interactions with a young person and a Care Team will require a flexible diverse and creative approach to meet the needs of each student.

Your Skills and Experience

A self-motivated flexible professional that thrives when collaborating with others in a wide variety of settings with the purpose of supporting students to re-connect and create positive educational outcomes. With trauma informed practices and experiences this role requires a passionate person who can be a creative thinker and adaptable to cater to our diverse young peoples needs.

Role Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Education
  • Current VIT full registration
  • Extensive teaching experience
  • You will be required to show a statement of service of your teaching experience.

Experience in the following setting are desired:

  • Experience teaching in alternative settings or remote locations
  • Experience working with youth justice child protection or out of home care.
  • Experience in Special Education Psychology or Welfare.
  • Experience in community support groups or mental health supports.
