Job Title: PEI Supervisor of Special Education
Position Summary:
This position is accountable for planning coordinating and supervising the delivery of educational services to eligible preschool children with special needs in order to ensure that the individualized needs of each child is met and services are being implemented as written in the childs Individualized Education Program (IEP). The Supervisor of Special Education acts as a Local Education Agency representative in matters related to educational planning for new and continuing students. The Supervisor of Special Education is accountable for the management and evaluation of program staff.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides supervision through coaching monitoring and evaluation of professional and paraprofessional staff who provide diagnostic educational and supportive services to preschool students with disabilities initiating corrective measures when necessary to ensure effective management of program staff.
Oversees provision of services to students within designated region by assigning and monitoring staff caseloads to maximize efficiency and allocation of resources while adhering to state and federal guidelines.
Represents as the local educational agency in matters related to educational planning for new and continuing students by reviewing Evaluation Reports serving as LEA Representative in IEP meetings and facilitating the kindergarten transition process to support student achievement and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
Collaborates with Human Resources and PEI Special Projects Supervisor in the recruitment and onboarding of new staff by participating in the interview and selection process to identify successful candidates and build a high-quality workforce that meets the growing needs of the program.
Collaborates with Principal Directors and other administrators to plan coordinate and/or present professional development activities to ensure staff are current in new and effective practices program procedures laws and regulations.
Represents and promotes the AIU and Preschool Early Intervention by partnering with internal and external stakeholders to establish and maintain relationships that effectively support families and advance student outcomes.
Qualifications:
Pennsylvania Certification in Special Education Speech and Language Impairment or Early Intervention
PA Supervisory Certification in Special Education
Masters Degree in the area of Special Education or Related Services
Minimum of 5 years of experience working in special education or early intervention
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required.
Effectiveverbaland written communication skills includingeffectivepresentation skills required.
Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple initiatives required.
