PRIMARY PURPOSE/FUNCTION:
Support the education program by providing intervention strategies for students who are at risk or potentially at risk.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor (minimum); Mississippi Licensure
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Effective communication skills with students parents partners district personnel and colleagues.
- Knowledge of resources available within the community to address student and parent issues regarding academic mental health and socio-economic needs.
- Ability to provide peer mediation and conflict resolution skills to students and parents.
- Organization communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience:
Twoor more years of experience working with students (preference at-risk).
EVALUATION:
The Interventionist will be evaluated by the principal and/or district administrator on an annual basis.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Maintain professional behavior appearance and work ethic to represent the school district in a positive manner at all times. Adherence to the Mississippi Code of Ethics for Educators.
- Articulate a positive image of the school district and school district personnel.
- Demonstrate effective positive and growth-oriented relationships with all patrons.
- Demonstrates relentless commitment to the academic achievement of all students.
- Monitor at-risk students to determine the appropriate interventions.
- Communicate effectively with at-risk students parents community agencies administration and teachers.
- Attend meetings (e.g. MTSS IEP parent meetings) to enlist help for at-risk students and track their progress.
- Gather data maintain files and monitor students for the purpose of enlisting help for at-risk students and keeping track of their progress.
- Address truancy issues by providing direct interventions at school sites in communities and in the homes of at-risk students.
- Provide peer mediation and conflict resolution for students staff and parents.
- Advise administrators and teachers on issues regarding at-risk students.
- Assist students with academic interventions for successful achievement.
- Meet with students on a regular basis to facilitate their self-understanding and improvement in behavior and academic performance.
- Serves as the School Test Coordinator.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Maintain a clear focus on student achievement and growth.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Moderate standing stooping bending and lifting
