Job Description Summary
The Power Conversion Rotating Machines Engineering Team is responsible for the design and engineering of world class generators and motors delivering optimised solutions in line with the requirements from various customers.
Reporting to the Engineering Leader Lead Mechanical Engineers support and work on projects and mechanical deliverables required by the engineering department. They are involved with machine lifecycle design from enquiry to remittance commissioning and eventual disposal. We work across a variety of industries including; Oil & Gas Marine Renewables Industrial (Metals and Mining) and Naval.
From customer specifications Lead Mechanical Engineers must establish and drive technical strategy in order to design a machine that is fully compliant with regulations and our Engineering Design Standards. As part of their project teams they ensure that the machine will perform properly and in accordance with customer specifications.
Activities contributing to the design and development of products solutions and systems. Includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components Responsible for departmental operations planning/execution or is focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results.
The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality volume timeliness etc.).

Required Qualifications
- Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent) or higher.
- 10 -15 years experience in technical engineering environment is desirable.
- Knowledge of rotating machines products their engineering challenges and manufacturing processes.
- Experienced in engineering design processes and tools preferred (2D/3D CAD is desired).
- Computer literate in Word processing Excel and Powerpoint applications.
- Flexible approach willing to work extended hours if required and travel as and when required.
- Good written and oral skills.
- Experience in the reading and interpretation of engineering drawings and documentation.
Desired Characteristics
- Methodical disciplined worker with attention to detail but also attention to delivery times and deadlines.
- Structured in approach and well organised.
- Motivating and influencing change agent driven self-starter who reacts well under pressure.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a challenging and fast-moving environment.
- Knowledge and experience in using SAP and Teamcenter
- Experience of site or customer visits.
