Walton Arts Center Inc. operates two campuses: a 1200-seat proscenium theatre and 269-seat black box in Fayetteville and an 11000-capacity outdoor Amphitheatre known as the Walmart AMP in Rogers AR. Walton Arts Center has been Arkansas premier performing arts center for over 30 years and Walmart AMP has consistently been one of Billboards top-rated amphitheaters producing 30 plus concerts per season.


Located in the beautiful Ozark Mountains NWA (as the locals refer to it) includes Benton Washington and Madison counties with five hub cities: Bentonville Fayetteville Rogers Springdale and Siloam Springs. Position Overview

We are excited to offer internship opportunities for both spring (commencing April 2026) and summer (starting July 2026). Each intern must fulfill a minimum of 150 hours or as stipulated by their respective academic program. This is an unpaid internship; however Walton Arts Center/Walmart AMP offers an $800 stipend upon the completion of 150 hours or the hours required for class credit (whichever is greater).

During the spring and summer concert season interns play a crucial role in supporting the Walmart AMP staff. Interns actively participate in various areas of interest including Front of House Back of House Food & Beverage Production Catering Technology Services Events Engineering Parking and Data Collection/Analysis gaining valuable firsthand experience. Upholding the highest standards of integrity professionalism and confidentiality is mandatory for interns at Walmart AMP as they serve as ambassadors for the organization. This internship is a structured hands-on learning experience designed to support the interns academic and/or professional goals while providing meaningful exposure to live event operations.

By the end of the internship interns will be able to:

  • Demonstrate working knowledge of live event operations at a large-scale music venue
  • Apply professional communication and customer service best practices in high-volume environments
  • Understand cross-departmental coordination in arts and entertainment operations
  • Develop problem-solving adaptability and time-management skills in fast-paced settings
  • Gain exposure to industry standards in safety production and guest experience


Principal Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

On a predetermined schedule interns will rotate through a variety of departments completing specific tasks in each area as they work alongside Walmart AMPs full time and seasonal personnel on event days to gain an inside look at the operations of a large-scale commercial music venue. Additionally interns will participate in regularly scheduled meetings with staff where they will have an opportunity to debrief regarding their learning experience and ask follow up questions.


The majority of the working and learning opportunity will occur on AMP event days so interns must be available to work 90% or more of AMP event days until their internship hours are completed. AMP event days can last anywhere between 4 to 16 hours depending on duties assigned for the day. Schedule will be communicated well in advance. See attached schedule of event days. Reliability will be considered as a critical metric in final evaluations.


The Walmart AMP internship program is a prearranged and structured learning experience scheduled within a specific time period. The experience must be relevant to the interns academic and/or professional goals and involve work research or other activities which are of value and beneficial to the mission of Walton Arts Center & Walmart AMP. An internship is performed under the direct supervision of WAC/AMP staff.


Each intern will be assigned a primary supervisor and will receive both midpoint and final performance evaluations from the internship coordinator. Final evaluations will be based on the successful completion of the required hours in accordance with AMP program requirements.


Walmart AMP interns also are responsible for the following:

  • Represent Walton Arts Center / Walmart AMP at both on and off-site events as requested.
  • Maintain professional working relationships with teammates fellow staff members from other departments vendors patrons and tenants of leased spaces.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Maintain security and safety requirements as defined by operations guidelines.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedure

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have reliable mode of transportation to and from the venue
  • Must be available to work 90% or more of scheduled AMP events as described above.
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited high school college or university program

  • Ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects at one time.

  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Strong communications skills and the ability to interact with many different types of people

  • Ability to work independently as well as with others to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given prescribed routines and standard accepted practices
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA FMLA and other federal state and local standards including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular punctual attendance consistent with the ADA FMLA and other federal state and local standards

Physical

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to talk listen and speak clearly (on telephone and radio)
  • Must have a working cell phone and be willing to install basic applications and be willing to use it for work purposes
  • Must be able to endure sitting or standing for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to endure standing or walking for extended periods of time on various surfaces such as concrete grass and inclined surfaces.
  • Must be able to endure outdoor elements including cold heat wind and/or precipitation
  • Must be able to work in large crowded environments with flashing lights loud music and noises pyrotechnics and cannons as part of shows and events
