*** Applicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University of Hawaii may apply for Casual Hire positions which include administrative professional and technical (APT) or instructional-type positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular Board of Regents (BOR) and Civil Service employees (i.e. paid holidays/leave). Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees.

Other Conditions: Casual Hire temporary appointment is expected begin February 2026 or soon thereafter. Not to exceed 89 days.

Duties:

  1. Identify and summarize relevant local foundation and federal funding opportunities aligned with the MA program in Counseling Psychology.
  2. Complete pre-award tasks including but not limited to project narrative budget and requesting letters of support.
  3. Meet with program faculty and staff regularly and consult with staff in the research and fiscal administration office as needed.
  4. Conduct other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:


  1. A Masters degree in Counseling Psychology Clinical Psychology or a related field and
  2. 3 years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for

  3. research and/or evaluation in behavioral health; or any equivalent combination of

  4. education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education

  5. knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.

  6. Proven experience in writing and securing grants particularly for behavioral health addictions healthcare or educational initiatives.
  7. Excellent project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  8. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft clear persuasive grant proposals.

Desirable Qualifications:


  1. A Doctorate (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Counseling Psychology Clinical Psychology or a related field.
  2. A successful track record of securing large-scale grants and managing funded projects.
  3. A strong understanding of clinical training models.
  4. Knowledge of innovative clinical training practices and the integration of technology into clinical services.
  5. Familiarity with community mental health needs and experience in community outreach and engagement.
