Position Summary: The Manager of Marketing and Communications Detroit is part of the External Affairs team serving the marketing and communications needs of CHN in Detroit.
This position will report to CHNs Vice President of External Affairs who is based in Cleveland and collaborate with the leadership team of DHN in Detroit as well as other CHN lines of business to serve their marketing and communications needs in Detroit with the goal of increasing housing stability and affordable housing opportunities for Detroiters.
This role requires a self-starter who can work both independently and collaboratively handle multiple priorities simultaneously has a proven track record managing and directing marketing and communications efforts and who has significant knowledge of and experience working in the Detroit market. The role will supervise staff and closely collaborate with internal teams particularly DHN leadership to enhance all initiatives.
The rate of pay for this position is $85000 $92000 per year commensurate with experience (FLSA Exempt)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities
- Lead marketing and communication strategy for CHN in Detroit with particular focus on DHN and its related programs and lead staff to execute marketing and communications strategies including earned paid and owned media.
- Manage marketing relationships with funders partners and members.
- Coordinate the creation of outreach/community relations plan and supervise its implementation.
- Supervise marketing and external affairs staff to ensure proper messaging brand integrity and positive relationships in the Detroit market.
- Oversee DHN website and ensure that it is using best practices to continuously reflect DHNs expansion and updates.
- Lead CHN Detroits program marketing for service areas including: Single Family Preservation Real Estate Development Sales and Property Management and Lending.
- Use dashboards and other client data to tell the DHN and CHN stories.
- Lead DHN member marketing support including messaging collateral and branded items.
- Collaborate with Cleveland Communications team to ensure consistency of CHN message and branding.
- Monitor and report performance of marketing campaigns and other communications to optimize campaign communications communicate learnings and incorporate learnings into future communications.
- Lead Detroit staff and collaborate with Cleveland teams on execution of events with partners funders and members.
- Manage external vendors such as advertising agencies videographers and consultants to support CHNs creative and marketing needs.
- Manage the creation of executive materials such as one-pagers PowerPoint Presentations etc.
- Guard CHNs message and reputation and protect CHN brand standards.
- Develop and adhere to marketing and communications annual budget.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements
Required:
Education:
- Bachelors degree in business marketing communications English journalism or related field
Experience:
- Seven plus years of experience in communications marketing or a related field
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team and campaigns
- Understanding of Detroit market and civic institutions
- Proven track record of managing teams and high dollar high stakes projects
- Proven experience developing and implementing strategies and systems to accommodate growth
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast paced and changing environment.
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders (funders partners and members)

- Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders including staff and external partners
- Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability
