Resolve Recruit is partnering with a leading Commonwealth Government Department to find an experienced Technical Project Manager.

Our client delivers enabling services and operational capability to support the Department and Australian businesses. This role plays a critical part in delivering major ICT initiatives that underpin digital transformation service delivery and enterprise capability across government.

As a Technical Project Manager you will be responsible for leading end-to-end delivery of complex technical projects coordinating multidisciplinary teams managing vendors and ensuring outcomes are delivered on time within scope and aligned with Australian Government standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning delivery and governance of complex ICT projects from initiation through to implementation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders delivery partners and cross-agency collaborators.
  • Manage project risks issues dependencies and constraints providing clear and timely reporting to governance forums.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary technical teams including solution architects developers testers and vendors.
  • Provide technical oversight across solution architecture system integrations data flows and non-functional requirements.
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture platforms and technology roadmaps.
  • Work collaboratively in Agile delivery environments to achieve agreed outcomes and benefits realisation.
  • Ensure projects comply with Australian Government standards including the Digital Service Standard (DSS).
  • Oversee security privacy data governance and operational readiness including transition-to-support activities.
  • Assess and manage the implications of emerging technologies such as automation and AI on project delivery.

Key Experience and Skills:

  • Relevant ICT qualifications and a minimum of 10 years experience successfully delivering complex ICT projects and programs within Federal Government environments.
  • Demonstrated capability to identify assess and manage project program and technical risks including dependencies constraints and compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including business areas cross-agency partners and service providers.
  • Recognised project management certifications (e.g. PRINCE2 PMP Agile Scrum) and hands-on experience applying project delivery methodologies including Waterfall Agile and Hybrid approaches.
  • Strong experience with backlog management iteration planning and release management in Agile or hybrid delivery environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for senior executives and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated technical acumen across:
    • Solution architecture and system design
    • Integrations and APIs
    • Cloud platforms and services
    • DevOps practices (including CI/CD pipelines)
    • Cybersecurity controls and compliance
    • Data management and governance
  • Experience delivering large-scale digital transformation or enterprise ICT initiatives within the Commonwealth Government is highly regarded.
