The Office of the City Clerk is seeking a dedicated Corporate Records Manager to oversee the management of the Citys information this important role you will lead a multi-disciplinary team responsible for researching and developing policy tools training programs and corporate projects that align with the Citys legislative technical and operational requirements. As the Citys data landscape becomes more complex you will act as a subject matter expert and corporate lead addressing the challenges of managing vast volumes of information and artificial intelligence.
What will you do
- Produce the operational strategy and framework to meet legislative requirements and support corporate-wide compliance
- Manage the full HR lifecycle for staff including recruitment interviewing performance management and coaching to ensure team success
- Provide direct oversight and guidance to the Corporate Records Business Leads and the Corporate Records Centre Coordinator
- Research and develop policy tools information lifecycle processes and training programs to meet legislative and archival requirements
- Oversee the Citys Classification and Retention Schedule ensuring updates are communicated and implemented across the organization
- Authorize the routine destruction transfer or migration of City records in compliance with delegated authority
- Execute complex corporate projects using formal project management methodologies including the development of charters project plans and status reporting
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as Legal Services IT and the City Archives.
- Manage the complexities of digital information within enterprise applications including developing scalable solutions for retention and disposition.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to the management of public records as mandated by the Municipal Government Act and numerous other acts and regulations
- Provide strategic subject-matter advice to the Director and City Clerk regarding program management and the resolution of high-level issues
- University degree in library or social sciences or an equivalent discipline. Masters Degree preferred
- 7 years of progressively responsible experience managing digital and physical information
- 5 years of professional experience gained within a public sector environment demonstrating an understanding of government operations and regulatory compliance
- 3 years of direct supervisory or team leadership experience
- Certificate in Records and Information Management and Certificate in Project Management
Skills required for success:
- Execute complex corporate projects using formal project management methodologies including the development of charters and status reporting
- Demonstrated ability to strategically lead a professional team and maintain strong collaborative relationships with stakeholders at all levels
- Possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- The capacity to navigate complex high-scrutiny governance challenges with diplomacy tact and situational awareness
- Expertise in interpreting applying and operationalizing complex legislation and the ability to develop and institutionalize comprehensive administrative policies SOPs and work plans to ensure corporate-wide compliance
- Alignment to our Cultural Commitments and Leadership Competencies ( a culture of equity diversity reconciliation and inclusion
Conditions of employment and work environment:
- Up to: 1 permanent full-time position
- Hours of work: 36.9 hours per week Monday - Friday
- Salary Range: $108838.00 - $136047.00 (Annually)
- This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite.
- This position is eligible for the EDO program (Earned Day Off).
- Hire is dependent on a Criminal Records Check (CRC) security clearance that is satisfactory to the City of Edmonton and is a requirement of this position there may be a cost associated with this requirement.
- Management and Out-of-Scope positions at the City of Edmonton are being reviewed for possible inclusion in the Civic Service Union 52 bargaining unit. If this position is impacted the incumbent will be notified accordingly.
