About the position: Shady Hill School is seeking an experienced Math Curriculum and Instructional Specialist to support our Lower School beginning in August 2026. This is a 80% full-time in-person exempt (salaried) 10.5 month position with paid time off during school vacations and over the summer. The Math Specialist works Monday - Thursday during the school year. This position is eligible for full benefits.
Responsibilities:- Coordinate the continued implementation of the Illustrative Math curriculum in Grades K - 4
- Develop supplemental instructional material and math assessments in Grades PreK - 4
- Teach and support Lower School students one-on-one in small groups or as a class group providing remediation and/or enrichment
- Offer enrichment and remediation classes for specific grades as necessary
- Partner with the Learning Resource department to coordinate tutoring and other support services for students; meet with parents as needed to help them understand the math learning profile of their child
- Model lessons and coach teachers on effective instructional strategies; lead PD sessions for teachers in the LS around math pedagogy
- Lead the math portion of the onboarding program for teachers new to SHS in August
- Partner with the Math Department Chair to ensure curriculum alignment with middle school and establish effective working relationships with other school administrators to best support teachers and students
- Serve on the Student Support Team in Lower School
- Coordinate Track My Progress testing with LS teachers and train teachers in using and understanding the data
- Effectively discuss the math program with the larger Shady Hill community and with parents; lead evening events to promote the curriculum with parents
- Help to design and implement math assessments as part of Lower School Admissions Day; assist with reading files of prospective students as needed
In addition the Lower School Math Specialist will share in responsibilities associated with the position or with membership in the Administration such as weekly lunch and recess supervision or other duties and participating in special events and outreach programs.
