Position Summary:The Swim Lesson Coordinator oversees swim lesson operations to ensure a safe organized and high-quality program. This position supports and supervises staff maintains program records enforces safety procedures and provides clear communication and customer service to participants and families.
Season: ApproximatelyJune 1 thorugh July 31
Hours:Monday - Thursday 8am-1pm; schedule may vary
Pay Classification: Seasonal non-exempt (hourly); not eligible for district benefits
Qualifications Certifications and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Prior experience supervising a pool facility and staff preferred
- Experience providing developmental swim lessons preferred
Pre-Employment Certifications
Employees are responsible for obtaining and maintaining the following certifications. Certification costs may be reimbursed upon completion. Time spent earning certifications is not paid.
Current Lifeguard Certification (American Red Cross preferred; other certifications may be approved by the Community Education Aquatics Coordinator and must be converted to ARC within one year of hire)
Current First Aid/CPR/AED Certification (American Red Cross preferred; other certifications may be approved by the Community Education Aquatics Coordinator and must be converted to ARC within one year of hire)
Current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certification
Certifications/Training Completed After Hire
Must be completed within two (2) weeks of hire and prior to the first scheduled shift. Training costs and paid time are provided by the employer.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Pool Safety & Operations
Enforce pool rules and safety procedures to ensure a safe environment for patrons and staff.
Respond to emergencies including performing water rescues and providing first aid/CPR as needed.
Complete daily opening and closing duties including safety checklists and securing the facility.
Conduct scheduled water quality testing and report concerns or maintenance needs promptly.
Inspect the pool facility and confirm all rescue first aid and instructional equipment is operational.
Swim Lesson Program Coordination
Supervise swim instructors to ensure consistent teaching methods and adherence to safety protocols.
Maintain class rosters and ensure participants are placed in appropriate skill levels.
Coordinate staffing coverage including arranging substitutes and adjusting schedules as needed.
Provide instructors with accurate rosters supplies and equipment for each class.
Oversee end-of-session skill assessments and ensure report cards are completed and distributed.
Lead regular staff meetings to provide updates coaching and training.
Supervision Records & Customer Service
Supervise pool staff and serve as manager on duty during assigned shifts.
Maintain accurate daily records including pool logs and deposits.
Complete incident and accident reports in accordance with program procedures.
Address customer questions and concerns professionally and resolve issues on site when possible.
Support facility cleanliness and report maintenance needs to the appropriate department.
Communicate regularly with the Aquatics Coordinator regarding operations staffing and program needs.
Attend required meetings trainings and in-services.
