Mission: Seton Home works to break the cycle of abuse and poverty by providing a caring home education and support services necessary to transform the lives of pregnant and parenting teen mothers and their children.


Summary: The Medical Coordinator will oversee and coordinate medical appointments and follows up with the medical providers as needed. Oversee and maintain inventory of prescribed and over-the counter medications. Also administers and ensures medications are dispensed according to physicians directives ORR Seton Home and TDFPS guidelines. Ensure medical logs and medical reports in client files are accurate complete and in compliance with licensing and ORR standards.


Position Responsibilities:

  • *Oversee and maintain accurate schedule of off campus medical appointments and immunization;
  • Oversee and maintain effective knowledge of communicable diseases;
  • *Responsible for documenting all medical updates on individual cases for ORRs review;
  • *Oversee and coordinate physicals and immunizations completed within timeline given;
  • *Oversee medication inventory completed on a monthly basis;
  • *Maintain communication and documentation with ORR FFS GDIT;
  • Oversee and ensure all information provided to residents are in home language of child;
  • Maintain regular working hours and assist after hours if needed;
  • Inputting information for all requisition of all medical treatment request;
  • Transport unaccompanied alien children to any off campus appointments;
  • Assist with transport when needed;
  • Obtain full set of vitals;
  • Document chief medical or physical complaint;
  • Submit medical requisitions for payments of all billing;
  • Oversee and track and schedule initial and follow up dental appointments;
  • Oversee and maintain supplies including over the counter medications;
  • Intake Processing;
  • Inquire and document allergies to medications or foods;
  • New intake physical assessments;
  • Assist in the smooth flow of UAC through the assessment process;
  • Assist with inputting required information into the registry as necessary;
  • Must be sensitive to the service populations cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
  • Adhering to safety training and protocols on a daily basis and taking precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of self others.
  • Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information services rendered to clients donors names and gifts internal and external investigations or results of any investigations and financial information.
  • Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral is mandatory.
  • Every employee is required to take a solution-oriented approach in their interactions and undertakings as well as being a team member that promotes collaboration and commitment to the Mission and Vision of the organization.
  • As a Seton Home employee attendance and successful completion of a 10-day New Employee Orientation is mandated for the position. The inability to meet this requirement will conclude employment with the Agency.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education
    • High school Diploma or GED
    • Licensed Vocational Nurse Required
  • Experience
    • Preferred 2 years experience of progressive employment experience within a social service or child-care agency;
    • Minimum of 1-year employment experience in the child welfare field working with children and/or adolescents in a social service setting;
  • License and Credentials
    • Licensed Vocational Nurse Required
    • Reliable transportation;
    • Valid driver license;
    • Valid vehicle insurance;
  • Submit to a state and federal background check Child abuse and neglect registry check and Tuberculosis screening;
  • Be physically mentally and emotionally capable of performing assigned tasks and have the skills necessary to perform essential duties and responsibilities

Able to show proof of immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases transmitted by the respiratory route if working directly with unaccompanied children;

  • Varicella: two doses of varicella vaccine (at least 4 weeks apart) OR born in the United States before 1980 with a reported history of chickenpox (verified by an adult present at the time of illness) OR titers indicating varicella immunity OR documentation from healthcare provider verifying previous infection.
  • MMR: two doses of MMR vaccine (at least 4 weeks apart) OR titers indicating immunity to all three diseases
  • DTaP or DTap: Complete primary vaccination series. If primary vaccination series completed in childhood one DTaP dose in adulthood.
  • Influenza: one dose annually during flu season.

Minimum Knowledge and Skills:

  • Working knowledge of TDFPS Minimum Standards and Office of Refugee Resettlement- Division of Unaccompanied Childrens Services National Care Standards;
  • Possess therapeutic sensitivity to the service population cultural and socio-economic characteristics.
  • Experience with computer software and MS Office (i.e. MS Word Excel Outlook and OneDrive);
  • Must be detail oriented organized self-motivated work well independently and on a team;
  • Must have good written and verbal skills;
  • Must have good critical thinking and problem solving skills;
  • *Bilingual: Fluent in English/Spanish with regards to reading writing speaking and comprehension of the spoken language

Travel Requirements:

Travel requirements for the position includes 10% local and 10% overnight.
