Position: Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) Counselor
Location: Athens Campus
Department: Division of Student Affairs
Reports to: Associate Vice President of Finance & Administration
Salary/Benefits: Salary is commensurate with education and experience. State of Georgia benefits package.
Deadline to Apply: February 4 2026 at 4:00 p.m.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate services to WIOA participants including counseling and career advising.
- Counsel participants about their academic progress employability skills and personal matters.
- Case manage approximately 90-200 WIOA participants enrolled in various programs of study throughout 12 county regions; work with participants from the training through employment phases.
- Collaborate with Northeast Georgia Regional Commission to determine WIOA policies and procedures for implementation of service delivery system.
- Enter approved students on TrackSource an automated data management system each semester and document participant contacts per WIOA policy.
- Manage all financial records and prepare WIOA reimbursement invoices.
- Enter WIOA students under appropriate student information systems contracts each semester and collaborate with ITA departments to ensure accurate payment of tuition and fees.
- Conduct Visits to ITAs each semester as part of case management plans for off-campus WIOA participants.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in social work counseling higher education or related field.
- Two (2) years of counseling case management higher education or related experience within the past five (5) years.
- Experience working with economically disadvantaged and/or dislocated worker populations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters degree in social work counseling higher education or closely related field.
- WIOA experience; two years case management experience within the past 5 years.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Current experience with computer information system.
