About the opportunity

The BIENCO Project is a nationally funded multi-institutional research collaboration supported by the Australian Governments Medical Research Future Fund. BIENCO aims to address the global challenge of corneal blindness by developing cost-effective bioengineered corneal grafts and translating innovative research into clinical practice.

The Media and Communications Officer will provide strategic and operational leadership for BIENCOs internal and external communications supporting the promotion of the consortiums purpose activities and impact.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • develop and deliver BIENCOs internal and external communications strategy
  • produce regular internal and external newsletters
  • manage and update BIENCO website and social media content
  • support public relations engagement and awareness-raising activities
  • build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across six partner organisation
  • convene and coordinate a cross-institutional communications working group
  • support engagement activities with clinicians researchers industry partners and donor and recipient communities
  • monitor and scan the media and external environment for relevant developments
  • adapt messaging for diverse audiences from technical experts to the general public

About you

  • demonstrated experience in communications engagement or public relations roles
  • excellent written communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences
  • experience developing content across multiple platforms including newsletters websites and social media
  • demonstrated ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders and achieve outcomes
  • high emotional intelligence empathy and discretion particularly when working with sensitive subject matter
  • ability to work independently with initiative adaptability and confidence in a changing environment
