Job Summary

Overview

Susquehanna is looking for a Senior Tax Accountant to join our team in Sydney on a 12-month parental leave max term contract with potential to extend. Reporting to the Financial Controller Asia Pacific you will support monthly quarterly and annual financial and management reporting across multiple APAC entities alongside related tax compliance and returns.

This role suits someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment builds strong relationships with stakeholders and takes ownership of delivering high-quality outputs to deadline.

What youll do:

Financial & management reporting

  • Own the preparation and review of monthly management accounts including variance analysis and commentary.
  • Support the month-end close process reconciliations and reporting deliverables across multiple APAC entities.
  • Assist with year-end financial statements audit coordination and documentation.

Tax compliance & governance

  • Prepare and/or coordinate tax-related compliance obligations (e.g. income tax GST/BAS FBT and other required filings) working with internal stakeholders and external advisors as needed.
  • Maintain strong controls documentation and audit-ready support for tax and accounting positions.

Budgeting forecasting & analysis

  • Partner with stakeholders on budgeting and forecasting cycles; track performance investigate variances and provide insights.
  • Produce clear decision-useful reporting for regional leadership.

Stakeholder management

  • Work closely with teams locally and offshore building trusted relationships across Finance Operations and other partner groups.

Continuous improvement

  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows improve controls and increase automation and reporting efficiency.

What were looking for

  • Degree in Accounting Finance or related discipline; CPA/CA (or equivalent) required.
  • 10 years experience across financial and management reporting with strong end-to-end close ownership and senior-level accountability.
  • Financial services industry experience required (e.g. trading banking asset management funds management insurance fintech).
  • Strong tax compliance capability across relevant obligations (preparation and/or review) with proven experience partnering with external advisors and auditors.
  • Demonstrated experience owning budgeting/forecasting cycles delivering variance analysis and producing clear management insights for senior stakeholders.
  • Advanced Excel skills; strong capability with financial systems reporting tools and working with large datasets to produce accurate decision-useful reporting.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to tight deadlines in a high-performance environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management skillsable to build trust quickly across teams locally and offshore.
  • High attention to detail strong controls mindset and disciplined documentation practices.
  • Continuous improvement mindsetexperience driving process uplift automation and efficiency gains.
