Sir Bobby Robson Schoolis seeking a Teacher of Music and Creative Digital Technologies to help lead the next phase of their music curriculum offer.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Sir Bobby Robson School (SBRS) a specialist SEMH school within the Unity Schools Partnership.

At SBRS we are creating something truly special and we are looking for a passionate Teacher of Music and Creative Technologies to help us as we move forward. As a small SEMH school with classes of just 6 to 8 pupils supported by both a teacher and a TA we know the profound impact that music creativity and technology can have on our learners. For many of our young people music and artistic expression are powerful tools for communication emotional regulation and selfdiscovery. We are committed to developing a vibrant modern and inclusive music offer that embraces the full spectrum of musical experience from learning the foundations of an instrument to composing producing and creating through technology. This role is an exciting opportunity to build a dynamic programme that goes far beyond the classroom: sourcing and creating performance opportunities shaping culturally rich experiences and contributing to a thriving enrichment curriculum. You will develop links with local organisations creative professionals music hubs and community groups ensuring our pupils access meaningful encounters with the wider arts world. You will also help pupils understand the pathways available to them beyond Year 11 including post16 music technology routes creative college courses and communitybased progression opportunities opening doors to futures they may never have imagined.

Teaching and Curriculum

You will:

  • deliver highquality Music teaching across KS2KS4 adapting learning to the needs of pupils with SEMH
  • use existing curriculum planning (including CUSP curriculum) to implement and evaluate a wellsequenced music curriculum that integrates performance composition appreciation and music technology
  • promote musical curiosity creativity resilience and positive wellbeing through inclusive practical learning
  • use music and music technology to support emotional regulation and positive engagement with learning
  • develop pathways for music accreditation including both performance and technologybased awards
  • reach a second curriculum subject likely IT tailored to the strengths of the successful candidate and through wider support in the trust
  • use assessment observation and reflective practice to inform planning and next steps
  • take responsibility for a form group providing daily pastoral support and building positive relationships. This will also include delivering planned PSHE and RSE curriculum to your form group.
  • work closely with parents and carers fostering strong relationships that support progress attendance and engagement.

Wider Music Community and Enrichment

You will:

  • lead the development of the schools wider music and creative arts offer
  • establish and maintain strong links with local music hubs arts organisations studios and community groups
  • coordinate enrichment opportunities including joining CUSP music day ensembles workshops recording projects live performances at summer/Christmas fayres and crossschool collaboration.
  • identify and support wider musical skills by potentially looking at individual and group music tuition in line with UK-based Ofqual-accredited music examination boards
  • promote inclusive access to music for pupils who may face barriers due to SEMH needs or personal circumstances
  • support families in accessing opportunities beyond the school day and throughout transition to post16 education.

You will be a skilled practitioner with a deep commitment to inclusive practice and the transformative power of music creativity and technology. You will bring strong classroom expertise the ability to build trusting relationships and a passion for supporting pupils with SEMH needs to flourish socially emotionally and academically. You will combine confident subject knowledge with the creativity to design engaging practical learning experiences that help pupils regulate communicate and express yourself. Above all you will be driven by the belief that every child deserves access to rich cultural experiences highquality teaching and opportunities that expand your sense of possibility.

About Our School:

Sir Bobby Robson School educates young people aged 816 with a range of social emotional and mental health needs; some pupils also have additional needs including autism and may present with challenging behaviours. The school serves Ipswich and the surrounding areas of Suffolk and is part of Unity Schools Partnerships network of special schools. As a small SEMH school our classes typically include 6 to 8 pupils supported by both a teacher and a TA enabling close relationships personalised learning and meaningful emotional support.
