QUALIFICATIONS:
- Massachusetts Teacher Certifications. Dual certification in both
- Academic: Teacher Early Childhood PreK-2 and
- Academic: Teacher Moderate Disabilities PreK-2 or related certification
REPORTS TO: Director of Early Childhood Education
JOB GOAL: The Preschool Teacher will lead a classroom providing direct instruction
to preschoolers with and without teacher will implement the general
education curriculum while ensuring compliance with Individualized Education Programs
(IEPs) and Massachusetts Special Education Preschool Teacher works
alongside and collaborates with a strong team of teachers therapists related service
providers and teaching paraprofessional/support staff to provide high quality intervention
and instruction.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Knowledge of social-emotional-behavioral development in young children;
- Experience with a range of disabilities:
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the learning needs of all learners in the classroom
- Knowledge evidence-based and other best practices for instruction
- Collaborate and effectively team with other providers: speech/language pathologists occupational therapists BCBA administration etc
- Curriculum and learning materials are carefully selected to follow the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Educations Guidelines for Preschool and Kindergarten Learning Experiences
- Monitor and track progress for the general education curriculum and complete report cards
- Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher paraprofessional/support staff
- Screening and identifying children who may have disabilities;
- Coordinating special education evaluation procedures and acting as the liaison;
- Conducting diagnostic assessments and preparing related reports;
- Developing and writing Individualized Education Plans in conjunction with parents and other professionals;
- Attending and chairing special education Team meetings;
- Delivering instructional services and interventions individually in a small group setting and/or the classroom in accordance with the students Individual Education Plan;
- Developing adapting and modifying curriculum materials for students with disabilities that correlate with regular education peers;
- Conferencing and communicating regularly with parents outside providers and other professionals on behalf of students with disabilities and typical learners;
- Writing progress reports
OTHER DUTIES:
- Maintains professional competence by attending staff development programs educational workshops reviewing professional publications establishing personal networks and other professional activities.
- Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Director of Early Childhood Education or other appropriate administrator.
