Were looking for a skilled Senior HR Advisor to join our Pūmanawa Tāngata People and Safety Group. This role is primarily working with our Customer and Services business group but will also provide support to our Regulatory and Digital groups when needed. Youll work closely with leaders across your business groups to deliver workforce strategies build leadership capability and drive HR excellence.

As a trusted advisor youll bring a solid understanding of the machinery of government and be comfortable navigating complex people matters across a diverse stakeholder landscape. Your ability to influence coach and challenge constructively will be key to your success in this role.

Youll be responsible for executing workforce plans aligned with NZTAs strategic goals supporting talent management guiding performance and remuneration processes and embedding inclusive and effective HR practices. Youll also play a vital role in organisational design and development employment relations and change management initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partnering with leaders to deliver workforce plans aligned with NZTAs strategy.

  • Supporting strategic and operational hiring succession planning and diversity initiatives.

  • Guiding our leaders through performance and remuneration processes.

  • Managing employment relations cases and supporting union consultation processes.

  • Leading organisational design and change initiatives ensuring legal compliance.

  • Coaching leaders to confidently manage people-related activities.

Were looking for someone whos confident collaborative and ready to make an impact. Youll already be an experienced HR practitioner who will thrive in this role if you:

  • Have a solid foundation in HR practices employment law and compliancepreferably within a recent government context or role.

  • Have proven experience across a broad spectrum of HR specialties.

  • Know how to align HR strategies with business goals.

  • Are comfortable leading change and helping others navigate it.

  • Enjoy challenging the status quo and offering fresh ideas.

  • Build strong relationships and communicate with ease.

  • Have experience in coaching and supporting leaders and teams through complex issues.

  • Make sound practical recommendations to resolve challenges.

  • Stay calm under pressure and handle tough conversations with empathy and professionalism.
