This is to ensure that members of the police are fully aware and accountable for the unique powers entrusted to them and the standards of professional behaviour they swear to uphold.

An opportunity has become available for the post of Case Progression Assistant within Criminal Justice Services at the Central Case Management Unit based at Lloyd House Birmingham. It will involve working within the world of Criminal Justice. Applications are invited from persons who are motivated flexible and hard working.

The applicant will be working under the supervision of the Manager and Team Leaders of the Central Case Management Unit.

Key responsibilities:

  • Review of digital Remand Files.
  • Review of GAP & Youth Files
  • Review of NGAP files.
  • Completion of Allocation Spread-sheets.
  • Review and inputting of charges onto the court system
  • Review and allocation of Case Action Plans.
  • Completion of PNC checks and uploading of previous convictions into CONNECT.
  • Daily post
  • Reviewing and dispatching Postal Charge Requisitions.
  • Provide administrative support to Case Progression Officers.

Essential Skills:

  • Able to use routine office systems including filing photocopying registers logs and complete statistical returns to require quality standards
  • Ability to use or be trained on a range of operational computer applications and communication systems CONNECT PNC and OUTLOOK
  • To be aware of the Force policies in relation to equality and diversity and challenge instances of non-compliance
  • To be aware of own responsibilities and actions concerning health and safety at work and report shortfalls in health and safety to line management
  • Required to regularly liaise with colleagues at all ranks internal and external to the organisation

  • Ability to assist with the management of team workload in absence Case Progression Team Leader(s)

Desirable:

  • Be conversant with Microsoft Office and have excellent computer literacy skills.
  • Problem solving
  • Background in basic office functions.
  • An understanding of criminal legislation including Codes of Practice and Data Protection

Vetting:Successful applicants will be required to pass Recruitment Vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearancescrutiny prior to commencing their role this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.
